Interesting. Reminds me of the rock formations on the moors in my native Yorkshire, which are glacial rather than volcanic and whose rock art (graffiti) is much more recent.
I find it interesting how those drawings survived. What is even more amazing is that the rocks and lava cones were never destroyed. I think the same is true of many of the remains of the ancients all over the world. It seems as generations past did not care about preservation of anything.
