Arising Early
Post-Script: Actually, I haven't tried all that hard to do pinhole photography at the Balloon Fiesta, it's just that I have so many competing interests. But one of these days...
Included at the end of this article are a selection of images culled from those I shot this morning. A bit unconventional in style for balloon photography, but I hope you enjoy.

Very nice post on the Balloons. I have been to Albuquerque several times for weeks at a time -- always in summer. Mrs. & I would really like to get there one year for the balloons. Balloons are so very neat when they fly. Peaceful and gentle. I used to love to watch them fly around Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia.
I love the pre-dawn shots, Joe. Having been up at that time often, back in my twenties, probably coming home from being out all night (misspent youth indeed), I find them very atmospheric.
Beautifully written post, Joe!
And the photographs show unique angles, something different than the usual balloons-in-the-sky. Well done!
