Great entry. You two really make a cool team.
ReplyDeleteA spectacular duo! :D
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this blog entry very much. You profile a friend but also poetically talk about the pleasures and stimulation this friendship affords. I first discovered your videos at your Youtube channel a few years ago, Joe, and enjoyed your clear presentation of new (and old) ideas for cameras and print-making. I even dug out one or two pinhole cameras I had made, some one multiple lenses, all primitive cardboard contraptions, from way back in the late 90s when I was slogging through school. Then I became aware of Ethan through his Kickstarter for a 4x5 camera pieced together with whimsically-colored 3d-printed components. (I wish I had gotten in on that campaign.) Then the collaboration between the two of you started, and I have not received more pleasure from any Youtube videos than the ones in which both of you have collaborated on the RA-4 process, on the fashioning of new pinhole cameras such as the "Aardvark", on the Instax Wide cameras, etc. There is so much excitement, and when you build something, it makes me want to build. Friendships such as these are special, and I thank you for sharing this evocation of what "Tuesdays at Ethan's" (to paraphrase the title of the Mitch Albom book "Tuesdays with Morrie") has meant to you as you both explore your fascination with the endless pathways of photography.
