Messing Around With Typewriter Line Spacing

Royal KMM, a classic American-made standard typewriter with whole-line spacing

How I made pencil marks spaced 1/4 inch along the left margin (before typing!)

Aligning the reference line on the backing sheet to the edge of the card guide

Resulting in evenly spaced rows of text at 1.5 line spacing!

Great idea.
The one thing that bugs me about old USA made typewriters is no 1/2 line spacing.
You might ponder asking around to see if someone has a machine matching the one you want to have 1/2 line spacing *and* which has a math keyboard with sub/superscript characters. Those have a 1/2 linespace gear which you can transfer to your machine. (:
Efficiency is overrated when it comes to fully immersing yourself in your craft. I would say that the extra effort on your part brings an additional level of authenticity to your handcrafted, hand typed pages!
Innovations in typewriting, in the year 2025! This is clever.
Can you think of how that would (or wouldn’t) work on a Smith Premier typewriter?
