So, what did you think of Broom of the System? I could just never get into it (or, I'm afraid, get it).
Well, I'm still finishing it, but it's pretty good. Keep in mind that I've already read Infinite Jest, so in comparison, Broom seems pretty tame, and a lot shorter. Wallace writes with a lot of humour and self-referential modern literary insider stuff, and is also great at sarcastic social commentary. Read the Wikipedia summary to get an idea. I'd recommend it as a good introduction to the work of DFW.
