Well, I'm still finishing it, but it's pretty good. Keep in mind that I've already read Infinite Jest, so in comparison, Broom seems pretty tame, and a lot shorter. Wallace writes with a lot of humour and self-referential modern literary insider stuff, and is also great at sarcastic social commentary. Read the Wikipedia summary to get an idea. I'd recommend it as a good introduction to the work of DFW.
