Photographs & Memories

Photographs and Memories

Photographs & Memories

Post-Script: Tomorrow we drive halfway back and stay the night in Kingman, Az., where it's slated to be a bit warm. We'd rather stay in Flagstaff, but it's more like 3/5ths of the way back, making for a longer driving day. We'll miss the coastal climate of San Diego, but alas, reality sets it!

Ha, ha; I read "... stress-powered computer ...".

Your wife is right, of course. What we see on this blog are very good photographs. There is a lot of satisfaction to be had from producing a solid, integral artifact and from wider feedback. My wife's and my profession is book design and we have had the pleasure of designing many art photo books. Some of those were for individuals who just wanted to pass them out to family and friends; others were for a noted publisher* with very high standards. The latter mostly uses film from 6x6 cm up to 20x8 inches which they print, with local finessing, and then scan. I suspect nowadays they also touch them with Photoshop, but that's not their main process.

And I'm sure you already know about the internet's offerings for photo books--much cheaper but with less control.

We'll be happy to tell you more if you want to exchange addresses. Anyway, we look forward to more of your photos.
