At least once a week, the sink strainer slips from my fingers and falls into the trash when I'm tapping it against the rubbish bin (trashcan). As annoying as that is, I'm sure I'm doing my small bit to prevent all these food scraps from ending up in our rivers and oceans.
As an avid recycler and former composter (it was available in Seattle, alas not here in Silicon Valley) I actually had no idea it was bad to put food scraps in the garbage disposal. Time for an education campaign!
