Pondering Her Legacy

Post-Script: I was simultaneously humbled and gratified by viewing this show at the Monroe Gallery. If nothing else, her work has inspired me, though I may lack her talent, to continue to pursue my own, unique photographic vision. The untimely yet fortuitous discovery of her work, shortly after her death, has given us, the photographic public, a true and rare gift, which I encourage everyone to see in person.

Directly Connected

Post-Script: This Easter with the family was one of the more memorable ones in recent memory. We ate, we visited, we typed, we walked to the park and flew kites. I'm still figuring out how to work kite flying into a future blog article.

I've also been continuing with my private typewritten journal. Some of the thoughts for this typecast came from that journal. I'm already beginning to see one of the values of such a system is that it helps one to congeal ideas into concrete thoughts for future publication. There are also themes beginning to develop in the pages of the journal, as I revisit old ideas.

Post-Script: I hadn't intended on going all political on you, so forgive me for that. As for my idea about discussing private typewriter journalism, that will have to wait for another day, except to say that, for typewriters to inhabit a deeper part of our lives, we will have to move beyond typecasting as a means of discussing typewriters and get into the space where they play important roles as valuable, day-to-day domestic tools.

Tucson Typecast, Part Two

Post-Script: Okay, I figured out the radio is one of those replicas, since it has a cassette slot in the side. Still, a nice stylistic touch. I'm thinking they're micro-broadcasting an AM signal of the oldies music around the court, including old radio commercials.

I also left a type-written note for their Guest Log, which is included in each trailer. I figure my Royal Mercury is about the same vintage as the trailer, so a typed note would be appropriate.
